TTFM School Survey Feedback from Students and Staff

Students who have completed the TTFM survey say...

I think this survey is a really good thing to ask students what they think, and should maybe de done more often. This could affect the school in positive changes, and that would be awesome!

I think this is a great way to find out how we feel about school and all of our views about everything done here.

I think that this survey is good and makes you think that teachers should get more respect than they are given.

I liked this survey because it gives us a chance to say what we want without some one saying, "why do you think that" and asking questions...and making us feel bad.

Your survey is good. I hope it helps other kids who get bullied and stuff like me.

This is a very effective and confidential way to get information from students. It shows you really care about what the students think about their education. The blue dude is very cute.

This survey was good and I love telling people how I really feel about school.

Good survey...got me thinking about what i like about myself and how my friends are treating me and how i am being treated.

I think that this website is very cool! For one reason, we get to tell somebody what we really think about the school and we get to have fun and stay inside from cold recesses! This website is also really cool because all of the teachers have no way to see wut you said or how you said it!

I think that this is a cool website and it can let the students speak what's on their chest.

This site has the sweetest mascot. Is he a booger? An alien? A large, animated candy that probably tastes like blueberries?

But Students Worry...

I can't wait to see what the other people thought of this survey and what the results turn into. I hope that we continue to have a good supportive Board of Education and that we have a little more fun.

I would like to see some results from this survey. I don't want you to just have this survey sitting in the basement ten years from now. I want you to learn from it and not make me waste my time.

What is going to come about from these surveys? Do they plan on changing the system based on our answers? It hasn't changed a lot in the past 15 years, why now?

I'm not sure about this survey. If schools make changes, that's wonderful, but I have filled out dozens of surveys nearly identical to this and nothing has come of it. Schools still have dwindling arts and physical education programs and our ceilings still rain asbestos so I'm not sure if this was worth missing my class.

This survey is a good idea, but will it really challenge the school to make a change?

Are there going to be results posted anywhere, or will our school be notified about changes that will be made in our school?

I think the survey is important, the only thing I'm questioning is ...will it actually be taken into consideration, or are we "just kids"...

I think that this survey was a complete waste of time because our school is perfect and I love it the way it is.

Schools and Districts Have This to Say about TTFM...

It's a safe, comfortable way for students to share information (less biased / totally anonymous).

TTFM is arm's-length, non-threatening.

[We like that it] doesn't compare schools to each other, but to national norms.

This will help guide School Improvement Plans with actual data.

We're happy that an outside firm handles workload.

Our students appreciate and enjoy doing the survey; it's simple, straightforward, doesn't take as long as we originally thought it might.

The questions are set up very well.

The website works great and we run it now with help from the library assistant - she logs the kids on and it runs very smoothly.

Our kids are taking 15-20 minutes, but the kids are taking the most time on the last aspect (open-ended questions section), which is good - our kids are filling those out diligently.

We have three computer labs set up and the process runs very smoothly – it takes about 15-20 minutes. The feedback is good, they are being supervised and we're happy with the time they take to think their answers through.

User names, passwords, log on procedures all work well.

We have a schedule set up in our school – here's your list, here's the kids that are to do it and email us when you're done – and it just happens... we just say you're going to do it, and it gets done.

We're doing it in groups of 3 students per time period – we just had a new animation lab put up so it's been really awesome for kids to be there and supervised all of the time.

Students can complete [the survey] before or after school, or at home. Teachers appreciate the flexibility.

We haven't used incentives. The fact that it is an anonymous forum to voice their opinions about school, classes, etc. and the fact that they have been told that all students in the school will be participating seems to be motivation enough.

Data upload was nine times easier than the government's method over here!

Although we are only surveying 50% of our school (600 students), we could have very easily administered the survey to the entire student population (1200) in a single semester. To do this I would need a computer lab for 1/2 day per week.

The feedback from our students regarding the survey is good. It is easy to read, navigate the site and respond to the material. I'm pleasantly surprised by the volume of their written responses.
